Financial Literacy:19th vs 20th century! by Ananya M

0

“The number one problem in today’s generation and the economy is the lack of financial literacy.” -Alan Greenspan

Financial Literacy is nothing but the art of imparting knowledge and skill about our monetary conditions. “Is financial literacy important for students” is a question that always bumps into the minds of 20th-century parents when their little ones have very high expectations on them, more than what they could ever afford or in either case when they are demanding too much amount from the parents for chilling out with friends. Most of the time it so happens that children out of innocence (or lack of understanding about their financial conditions)become depressed when their family is unable to fetch their dreams. So, now our journey begins from the past to the present and now it’s your time to decide whether financial literacy is significant for youngsters.

Long ago or with reference to the time of our parent’s or grandparents’ childhood, the question provokes “ Was financial literacy taught to them in school?”, the answer is absolute no, they were not taught financial literacy in school. So, my next question is “How come they are so financially literate?”. This is a question that every college graduate should think about and I’m sure they’ll find the answer. When I thought about this question, I could get the answer, my answer may not be correct according to your perspective, but I would definitely love to share it with you. I got several answers -one of which is that in the olden day’s people lived in joint families so the elders at home always explained the young ones about how should a person earn, save, invest and grow their money, secondly in the past the technological advancement was not so high and hence the wants of the children were not too luxurious and moreover the parents during that time were very strict and didn’t always buy everything blindly the children wished for but rather they explained to them since their child was a toddler that they can’t afford them and that’s where children of that time didn’t dream of what’s out of their reach. So, I could conclude the reply by saying that our elders and our ancestor’s mind was tuned from the time they were tiny tots and that’s how the people of those generations are conscious enough to save money as well as spend as much required.

Now we move on to the present stage of our journey. So yes, we are not financially literate as we are taught how to earn money, but we have no idea how to spend and save it productively. We are not thoughtful before spending the money and that’s where we stress ourselves and parents if we are not able to keep up with the society in material being. We are the ones who don’t give any respect and value to the earned money neither do we give respect to what we have. So, I conclude about our generation 20th-century kids that we are not financially literate because our wants are satisfied as parents already satisfy them in the upper hand, before asking or pleading for them and there’s no one to stop the children from their desires.

So, after reading the above passages, I’m sure each student or parent would relate it and would surely get a clear image of whether financial literacy is important for students.

“The single biggest difference between financial success and financial failure is how well you manage your money.”

How to “Think like a Monk” by Jay Shetty

0

Are you curious about the book by Jay shetty like price and how it is different from other books Check details here

Here’s what I feel about him!

Two years ago when I was scrolling through my Youtube feed, I found a video of him, it was a monologue video(We were drowning in information). In that video, he talks about Technology vs Humanity. After that, I started following him on Instagram and Facebook. I learned so much through his videos. He talks about gratitude, meditation, overcomes overthinking, empathy, mindfulness, etc. A big part of his passion and purpose is to serve and give the wisdom which he learnt from others. For almost a decade he shared his thoughts on Psychology, Spirituality, Philosophy, and Behavioral Science.

Watching his videos and learning wisdom had made me a better person than I have been before. Now I started meditation, positively seeing things, feeling gratitude towards what I have, reading self-development books, focusing on personal growth, understanding the conversations deeper, understanding myself at a deeper level, I found the deepest things I didn’t even know I was seeking.

‘JayShetty’-  is now an award-winning host, storyteller, and viral content creator. Since launching his channel in 2016, Jays viral wisdom videos have garnered over 4 billion views and gained over 20 million followers globally.  On  February 14, 2019, my podcast “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” launched, and it’s consistently been the #1 health podcast in the world. Now his first book – Think like a monk was releasing soon on 9 Sept 2020. It’s about 12 Lessons on Training Your Mind for Peace and Purpose Every Day. The book preorder was a huge success, It shot straight to #1 best-selling book in India.

I believe that, if we learn to master the mind, if we learn to navigate the mind, then we can learn to navigate our thoughts and of course master our life.

He says “ You don’t have to live like a monk. You don’t have to dress like a monk. You don’t have to give everything up like a monk. You don’t even have to go live on a mountaintop. You can access the same mindset, the same thinking patterns, the same processes in a simple way in my book.”

Your mind is a muscle, and it can be trained. The 12 lessons in Train Like a Monk are exactly what you need to start. The concepts in this book were all concepts I couldn’t break down into 30-minute podcasts or four-minute videos. Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty is a deep dive into learning each lesson step by step, he adds.

There’s a famous quote that says “we lose ourselves in books, we find ourselves there too.” Books have had a profound impact on our life. This book is designed to give you the support and guidance you need to take that next step and make that leap you know you want to.

Do You Have Low Self Worth? by Akhila M

0

A lot of people have major problems in their lives because of low self-worth, this is a very important topic to discuss.

Firstly let’s talk about where this is coming from, it starts from your childhood, your parents treat you in a certain way or compare you with other people or your relatives treat you in a certain way or you a teacher or your friends, all these things sort of start building up inside you and eventually it creates a problem of low self-worth. So if your parents are telling you that this kid is better, he is doing better or he’s more creative so on and so forth. All these things are making you feel that you are not worthy of love, you start looking for approval from other, you start thinking that you won’t get anything good in your life, or you don’t deserve anything in your life or you start seeking attention from places because you want all of that which your parents ever could give you. This is the reason whenever you go to the therapist, the first thing that they do is they ask you how your childhood was

It’s very important to acknowledge and accept that certain things might have happened in your past because you put it up inside because of having all these issues in your life right now. So, it’s important to understand that from here on keep those things aside, don’t blame anybody from your past, your parents are not perfect, other people are not perfect, everybody makes mistakes. They were doing the best of their ability. So not blame anybody and also do not blame yourself too. And let’s move on from yours and become better people.

Things which low self-worth people do:

  1. They try to please other people a lot
  2. They are very insecure about themselves

They’re people who cannot take people talking bad about them, it starts affecting you a lot and you can’t sleep over it and you want to give explanations to people about yourself and change their opinion about you, you don’t dare to be disliked. The fear of missing out is your friends are going out or doing things and enjoying their life. You sort of feel less about yourself, you won’t feel confident about what you’re doing and you want to do those things which you don’t even really want to do, it’s just because other people are doing it. You just have low self-worth or you feel.

Building yourself up

  1. Firstly you need to acknowledge all the good things about you, write down all of the things which you feel good about.
  2. Keep a gratitude journal that will help you understand what are all the good things in your life, it will always help you see all the good stuff even when the bad things are happening because you need to understand the bad things when they happen, it’s always like a learning experience. So bad experiences are always good, they are there in your life, you can learn from them.
  3. Thirdly you need to cut out the negative people, people from your life, get out of the cheating relationships, throw people out of your life, who makes you feel shit about yourself, unfollow people from social media who are not good for you, who cannot learn anything from them, you have to get rid of all of this. So always better have few friends, even if it’s one friend then be around with the people who don’t make you feel bad about yourself. And it’s always good to follow people, you can learn something from them, that it helps you grow as a person.
  4. It is important to have your own opinion, understand who you are so that you can say no to people when you don’t want to do things. To find out who you are, what’s your purpose in life, what are the things you like, what are the things you don’t like.

In the end, I would like to say that you have to work on being a complete person. The only thing which is going to help you is to understand that you can be your best friend and do all the things on your own, enjoy your company and if there are things you don’t like about yourself then work on them, understand where the issues are coming from and solve them.

It’s better to be disliked for who you are than to be like who you are not.

Is Schooling Really Important? by Samhitha Vootkoor

0

This particular question has been a moot point for a long time. While some say education is important, and the way you procure doesn’t matter. On the other hand, some say that traditional schooling is quintessential for one’s overall growth.
While the coronavirus is coursing through the veins of the world, the schools are shut and the education came to the online platforms. This made everyone to brood over this question more than ever.
When education is at your mouse click then, why does one needs to go to school? Google and Youtube became the classrooms and, many e-learning websites became the teachers. While this fulfills the basic education demand, we fail to realize that school is much more than pedagogy.
School is a temple of learning, this might sound like another cliche, but it is the gospel truth. The entire process of going to school involves not only just the learning process and the textbooks but a lot of other aspects. Waking up early and going to school on time is your first lesson of punctuality. Listening to what the teacher says and obeying them will teach you obedience. While writing your assignments and homework might subject to apathy, doesn’t that contribute to attaining a responsibility and dedication.
You might be a septuagenarian, yet the memories of your school days will be as fresh as a daisy. One of the biggest reasons anyone loves their school is friends. The school helps you build a social network and gains you friends for life. It helps in laying a foundation for communication skills. In a world of 7.8 billion people, how would you survive without the social skills? Those PE classes were tiring then but, later in life, you realize how important exercise for you to be healthy.
While some argue that school is not necessary. One can acquire all those skills at home. Reading books and attending online classes might give one knowledge but it doesn’t help in overall development. On the other hand, the phrase “Parents are the best teachers” is right but doesn’t fit in all cases. They might teach you to walk and talk, but working around the clock to make the ends meet, they can barely dedicate a specific teaching time. Although they play a major role in shaping one and help in honing our decision-making skills, the essence of school is ought to miss somewhere.
Cavemen did not go to school, yet they survived is the argument of many. Well, they are called “cavemen” for a reason. Without education, we might as well be in caves, rather than the big buildings.

In conclusion, all schools may not impart practical knowledge and dump the textbook in our brains but going to a school and interacting with many people is grist to one’s mill. School is not just a building enclosed in four walls, but it prepares a runway for us to take off and fly with colors in the future. As such, a school is nothing without teachers so, big bow and salute to all the teachers out there

WHY EVERY PERSON’S LIFE JOURNEY IS DIFFERENT? by Ananya M

0

“Don’t expect everyone to understand your journey, especially if they’ve never had to walk your path.

Every person’s life journey is different because each individual is unique and hence will have their own identity. For instance, all fruits from the same plant may not be the carbon copy of others, likewise the children born to the same mother also are not identical. Similarly, a different being’s life voyage is filled with different lessons, challenges, heartbreaks, joys, festivals, and many more memories. In the course of action of life’s travel, there are many reasons noted why every person’s life journey is different. I would embark by explaining a few of them:

1.EACH PERSONS PERCEPTION DIFFERS

“In social, you have to innovate in the information. If you have the same thing as everyone else, you’re just not interesting.” —DAVID MORIN

man sitting in the top of the mountain

Every single human’s vision varies because your thoughts and actions might not converge with that of others but rather diverge. What according to your thinking is right could be claimed wrong by others. Your way of conceiving any matter can differ from the other man, suppose ups and downs in life could be taken positively by you but in the other person case, it could be taken as a very big issue, about putting it in a magnifying glass and enlarging the matter. You could also be a person who’s very open-minded and who is always ready to apologize, thank and appreciate the other person for any happenings but other people wouldn’t like to do the same either out of shy, fear, or arrogance.

2.EVERYONE’S CHOICES ARE NOT SIMILAR

“Have fun, even if it’s not the same kind of fun everyone else is having.” — C.S. LEWIS

man holding his head while sitting on chair near computer desk

Choices differ from person to person but what doesn’t differ is everyone has to make choices. Your choice of taking any decision differs from the other person. Your way of choosing something depends on your aim and your ideologies. Before I take any decision my way of thinking about it could differ from yours, for example, my choice of subjects in the inter varied from my friend’s choice as my way of choosing my career platform differed from my friends’ future. What we could conclude from this is that “Your life is a result of the choices you make…If you don’t like your life it is time to start making better choices.”

3. DESTINY IS NOT SAME

A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it. -Jean De La Fontaine

assorted fedora hat lot

Everyone’s destiny is not the same because God wanted each person to have a different future. Destiny is that one thing that we can never control. We can have control over our choices, thinking, and actions but can’t have it on destiny. What is destined to happen would happen and none other than the supreme being can control it. Some things like happiness and sadness should be left to destiny, many people do many things to find ecstasies but rather get disappointed. If we are destined to have a smooth life, we would but if it’s destined to have a bitter life full of downward slopes then whatever we do would do no good to us.

How to deal with that malignant colleague around us? by Harika Mahalakshmi

0

A work environment is something that we spend significant time of our lives in. Actually, when we take a gander at a run of the typical day, it is significantly about our work and how we set all other things that else to along it. That is the reason one ought to consistently choose an occupation that they would enjoy doing. However sometimes, in some cases, you have picked an occupation that you think about your fantasy one, you could never realize who sits close to your work space and how they end up being.

Work colleagues are different from friends are not quite the same as genuine friends. Despite the fact that you can vent out nearly anything to you genuine companions, just a friend at work will have the option to relate with you when you state how your leader doesn’t consider any of your thoughts.

However, when the person close to your table or somebody from your group, is the individual who you need to yell about, that is when workday gets extremely troublesome and it may likewise wind up destroying your whole work understanding.

Here are the few different people you’ll find

  1. Someone that is controlling you.

If someone is trying to control you with the superiority to you either with work level or with knowledge or sometimes even use age by showing their upper hand. Be sure and say them what exactly you are and let them realize.

  1. Someone that who always puts you down or trying to put down.

If that person is pleasant to you, yet they simply put you and your work down at whatever point they got an opportunity. This may at first put your self-assurance under a throw and consistently leave you questioning yourselves.

It is ideal in the event that you never permit it to occur, yet in the event that you end up with an person like this, figure out how to disclose to them why you are accomplishing something and why you would like to do it as such, in short. Never give them an excessive number of clarifications and consistently realize when to cut their sentences off.

  1. Someone that looks up and makes up a negative outcome of every situation every time.

There is a tiny line between the healthy sound and wrong sound. In the event that the manager gives them more work, they bluster about how they’re so unfeeling and when the manager gives them a little lesser work, they at that point feel that they don’t think of them as sufficient. Thus, this individual won’t just make their own carries on with troublesome yet additionally drag you into antagonism by continually bringing it up before you.

What’s more, what you ought to do when such an individual opens their mouth, is reveal to them that you wouldn’t have any desire to hear it out right now since you are taking a gander at the more brilliant side of the day and solicitation them to remain away. At the point when you do it two or multiple times, they will understand that you have defined a limit for them.

  1. Someone that is manipulative on you and plays mind games with you.

Does that malignant colleague cause you to accomplish something that you totally don’t have any desire to do? You didn’t do it since they constrained you, however you were always manipulated by them or rather controlled into doing it. They play mind games and cause you to accept that they are your well-wishers.

You should initially notice such conduct in your mind since it probably won’t be a simple thing. afterwards cut them off right when they attempt to settle on your choices and changing decisions.

Do You Know How Money Controls Your Life? by Akhila M

0

How money traps your life and what you can do to avoid that!

A lot of people want to earn a lot of money and buy all the things they have dreamt of. I’ll tell you the story of what happens after you achieve this!

A lot of people think that the more money you have the happier you are going to be, which is not true money does not contribute to your happiness and I feel that happiness comes from within and happiness comes from being grateful for everything that you have. Money is not going to get you happiness in the long term, it’s just going to kind of trap you.

So there’s a really popular saying that says what you own, own you – which means that people sort of run behind earning a lot of money to buy all the things which they don’t need to impress the people who don’t like and that’s why you get stuck up.

For example:- A person who’s started growing in his job and making lot of money, and brought a lot of expensive things in his life at a very early stage instead of saving, he brought all these expensive things. He brought a car for 50 lakhs, it just not 50 lakhs the value of the true cost of the car kind of comes from all the tension that comes with it, all of the accessories that you have to buy for it, of this stress that you kind of gather for parking it here and there or people scratching it or maintain it later.

So it’s just a cycle which you get trapped into and you know we spent a lot of money and you have to spend money to maintain it and you have to get a job which is gonna pay for all of it. And some many people are stuck up in jobs and they’re running around every day they have stress, anxiety, they don’t have good relationships with their partner or parents or friends because they sort of want to earn a lot of money to maintain all of these things that they want.

So basically we are born to do jobs that we do not like to buy all of these things which we don’t need and will bond all these things for us to get validation from other people who we shouldn’t care about.

Don’t get into the entire riot of owning things because things eventually are just going to end up owning you and you’re going to be under so much stress and trouble. I have some friends who buy everything either on credit cards or personal loans or look at other people on social media and then they want their status to show up to other people because they care about other people’s validation too much. So they end up buying too much on loan and EMI and they’re always troubled because they are stuck up with their jobs, crying because they work day and night. After all, they have to maintain all of these things and it’s just sad.

If you are buying something, question yourself all of these things- Why do I want it? Do I need it? Or I just wanted?, or you want to show it to people or because my friend has it and I wanted to? Do I need this in my life?

All that you should do is spend your money on either improving yourself (learn courses, read books) be a better person or you should spend on traveling because it helps you in growing. And stop worrying about other people’s opinion, stop doing jobs so that you can have stuff in the future, it’s not gonna guarantee any happiness for you because you are going to get all these things which you have to maintain in the end and the troubles gonna be on you.
